Our Community of Faith and COVID-19:
Important Updates
___________________________________________
Dear friends,
We are in a time when every single day,
our lives are being changed in ways both big and small.
Many of these changes are completely out of our control,
whether schools closing, stocks crashing,
or being required to self-isolate for weeks on end.
Due to increasing precautions regarding COVID-19,
another change outside of our control is the fact that,
for the foreseeable future,
all in-person church activities will be cancelled,
including Sunday morning worship services,
Take It Further Tuesday, fundraisers, and events.
This is the most recent directive from the wider United Church.
However, despite all of these uncontrollable changes,
we do still have a choice:
a choice to respond with faith, trust, and hope,
rather than with fear, panic and despair;
a choice to respond with an awareness
that we are all in this together,
rather than with individualistic attitudes.
Friends, as followers of Jesus, as a people of Christian faith,
even in this time of crisis, chaos, and confusion,
we are called to remember
one of the central messages of Scripture:
"Don't be afraid."
As members of the United Church of Canada,
we are also called to remember
these words from A New Creed:
"We are not alone."
Further information will be sent out over email,
so stay tuned and check your inbox regularly:
I wouldn't want you to miss out!
Yours in faith,
Matthew Heesing
